The AgriLogiq – Savant Foundry NPC partnership advances an integrated and automated greenhouse farming system that helps farmers in South Africa maximize yields while minimizing energy, water and chemical consumption.
P4G has awarded the partnership with about US $400,000 in grants across two funding rounds.
AgriLogiq is an agritech startup in South Africa that combines smart hardware with a cloud-based platform to provide farmers with automated greenhouses for the entire crop lifecycle.
The startup's innovative algorithm creates a more precise and interactive way of operating a greenhouse. The system integrates AI with real-time data processing, giving farmers predictive insights that allow them to improve farm performance and sustainability. AgriLogiq's greenhouse system automates farming activities such as climate control, irrigation and fertigation, and enables modern farming practices such as vertical, hydroponic and aeroponic farming systems.
The system harnesses alternate energy sources to control the internal environment, thus making it less reliant on conventional energy sources. By optimizing growing conditions, it allows year-round farming which creates opportunities for permanent employment on farms where employment would previously be seasonal. This ability to provide a holistic eco-system of hardware and software technology that is both user-friendly and affordable gives AgriLogiq a competitive advantage.
AgriLogiq has a dual revenue model comprising hardware sales and Software as a Service (SaaS). AgriLogiq’s focus market is in countries in Southern and East Africa. The startup is also considering expansion into Western Europe and the Australian and New Zealand markets.
During the funding period, AgriLogiq will conduct trials, assess and improve the efficiency of its hardware design. Related to this, the startup has completed CE compliance for a range of its Printed Circuit Boards and achieved good results.
The startup is also improving the omnichannel capabilities and user-friendliness of its data tool interface and seed to harvest operations management app. During which it will be developing training materials to help farmers adopt the product and climate-smart practices.
As part of its journey to investment readiness, AgriLogiq will submit further products for extended CE certification documentation to ensure the product meets international quality standards and enable more products for export.
AgriLogiq has participated in several notable trade shows, such as the NAMPO Agricultural Show, and trade missions to Kenya to raise the visibility of its offering and meet with potential customers and industry experts. The startup also plans to undertake a targeted multi-country digital campaign to raise awareness for its products among key customer bases.
As part of enhancing its ability to manage multi-country operations, AgriLogiq will implement an integrated Enterprise Resource Planning system to allow back office functions to be automated.
During the P4G grant period, AgriLogiq aims to raise about US $500,000 in commercial investment. Through its products, the startup will positively affect more than 1,500 people, and through automation reduce energy, water and chemical use by up to 80%.
