RELEASE: P4G Announces Over $1 Million to Scale Climate Startups and Boost Investments

About

WASHINGTON (June 10, 2026) — World Resources Institute's Partnering for Green Growth and the Global Goals 2030 (P4G) has awarded over $1 million in top-up grants and technical assistance to 11 climate startup partnerships across Africa, Latin America and Southeast Asia. This funding will help high-potential ventures in the P4G network strengthen their investment readiness and expand climate solutions in emerging markets.

P4G's funding supports early-stage ventures working in clean energy, food systems, water and the circular economy. It is designed to help startups overcome a critical barrier known as the “valley of death” – the difficult transition from innovation to commercial scale – where many promising climate solutions stall due to limited access to finance and market support.

At a time of tight global capital markets and increasing pressure on climate finance, P4G’s model combines grant funding, technical assistance and partnerships with national public-private platforms to help startups strengthen their business models, improve regulatory environments and attract investment.

“Climate startups need more than bold ideas; they require enabling policy environments, strategic support and access to capital to reach scale,” said Robyn McGuckin, Executive Director, P4G. “This funding will help startups not only withstand global disruptions in their early growth stages, but emerge stronger, more investable and ready to grow their impact in countries where climate-smart solutions are needed most.”

One of the selected partnerships, Kenya-based Shamba Pride – OPES-LCEF, will use the funding to expand its Climate Smart Villages initiative, equipping 20,000 farmers with high-quality agricultural inputs, including locally-produced biofertilizers and improved market linkages.

“Investment readiness is a key inflection point,” said Samuel Munguti, Founder and Director, Shamba Pride. “This support allows us to grow Climate Smart Villages and ensure that much-needed innovations – from bio-fertilizers to carbon credit mapping – continue to reach farmers, even in the most challenging environments.”

Other partnerships receiving funding include:

  • BIKI – FoodCycle Indonesia (Indonesia) – an edible food coating startup to reduce food loss and waste, improve farmer incomes and food security.
  • Irri Hub Ke – Impacc gGmBH (Kenya) – end-to-end solar powered irrigation solutions that includes design, supply, installation and support services for smallholder farmers.
  • BATx – Fundación Socya (Colombia) – refurbished e-mobility batteries and large-scale grid applications with Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).

In the last two years alone, P4G-supported startups have helped mobilize almost $50 million in commercial and concessional investments and created more than 2,800 green jobs. These partnerships have delivered measurable environmental and economic benefits across emerging economies, including enhancing the climate resilience of more than 315,000 people, bringing more than 5,000 hectares of land under sustainable agricultural practices, and reducing more than 23,000 tons of food loss and waste.
