Netherlands

Background and priorities

Netherlands joined P4G as a country partner in 2018 and launched its National Platform in 2020.

Given its strategic contributions and leadership on climate action and sustainable development, the Netherlands will help strengthen the P4G network. The Netherlands engagement in P4G seeks to support innovative partnerships that achieve sustainable and inclusive growth in developing countries. The Netherlands will facilitate knowledge-sharing through Dutch private and public sector expertise in areas such as circular economy, digitalization, entrepreneurship and making global value chains sustainable.

The Dutch P4G National Platform will accelerate partnerships aligned with Dutch development priorities. The National Platform will mobilize an ecosystem of Dutch private, public and civil society leaders to catalyze partnerships delivering tangible impact. The International Enterprise Department within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Netherlands Enterprise Agency serve as the national platform co-chairs.

The Netherlands takes on an active leadership role in two global networks managed by the World Resources Institute, P4G’s organizational partner and host. As a member of the Global Commission on Adaptation, the Netherlands brings together leaders from across sectors to identify solutions and drive action for responding to the effects of climate change.

Country Priorities and Plans:

Climate Policy Development Priorities

For the Netherlands, the P4G initiative isn’t only a deeply felt international responsibility, it’s also a matter of enlightened self-interest. P4G means that we must act at the national level and that we must act together. We must act in concert with other nations because no country and no government can fight climate change alone.
