About

The EBOOST – ASSIST partnership accelerated Vietnam’s clean energy transition by developing and operating a nation-wide network of electric two- and four-wheeler charging stations that are integrated with mobile technology for easy tracking and payments.

Investing in Impact

P4G awarded the partnership about US $337,000 in grant funding.

Vietnam’s EV market is poised for growth and the country is the largest electric two-wheeler market in the ASEAN region. But similar to all emerging EV markets, charging networks are limited. Riders need accessible charging solutions that work for all electric vehicle types and that they can access at home and in public.

EBOOST builds and maintains a smart and open electric vehicle (EV) charging network across Vietnam. EBOOST charging stations allow vehicle owners, regardless of brand, to charge their electric bikes or cars at their homes or workplaces. EBOOST focuses on setting up stations in or around multi-unit residential or commercial buildings, but also targets hotels, schools, factories or larger shared parking areas in general.

EBOOST generates revenue through its Charging-as-a-Service model. It enters multi-year exclusive contracts with those locations. Under this agreement the location provides the space and access to power. EBOOST operates charging stations and pays the location quarterly administrative fees and a shared percentage costs for the right to occupy the space and operate the service. Users charging their vehicles at EBOOST charging points pay the company an activation fee and charging service fee.

In addition to strengthening the country’s charging infrastructure, EBOOST worked with the nonprofit ASSIST to accelerate the country’s enabling environment for electric vehicles. It specifically focused on policy improvement and guidance around setting up EV infrastructure in or around multi-unit buildings.

 Key Achievements:

  • Expanded EBOOST’s charging network to 233 eBike locations and 145 eCar locations, with 2,140 registered eBike charging points and 170 registered eCar charging points.

  • Increased active eBike users from 386 to 4,613 and active eCar users from 2 to 483 between March 2024 and September 2025.

  • Raised USD 600,000 in new commercial debt to scale up their business while creating over 100 green jobs in their ecosystem.

  • Launched and improved digital platforms for e2W and e4W users, including an independent E-Car app and OCPP-compliant system upgrades.

  • Built strategic relationships with EV manufacturers, mobility service providers, location partners, investors and government stakeholders.

  • Strengthened market visibility through major exhibitions, showcase events, media outreach, university engagement and targeted digital campaigns.

  • Contributed to national and sector policy discussions on EV infrastructure, startup investment, climate finance and green mobility regulation.

EBOOST expanded its nationwide charging footprint beyond Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi and Da Nang into the Mekong Delta and Central Vietnam, improving access to agnostic charging infrastructure across a wider range of communities and customer segments.

The partnership also broadened its B2B network by engaging public parking operators, residential buildings, hotels and resorts, industrial parks, retail chains, factories, schools and shared parking locations. Strategic collaboration discussions and agreements with EV manufacturers and mobility service providers, including BYD, CTX, AION, YADEA, NUEN, BE, Grab, Chototxe and Stride, helped strengthen the ecosystem for EV adoption and charging infrastructure in Vietnam.

Through workshops, university engagement, telesales, 24/7 customer support and customer satisfaction surveys, EBOOST strengthened relationships with users and improved customer experience. Active eBike users grew from 386 in March 2024 to 4,613 in September 2025, while active eCar users grew from 2 to 483 over the same period, contributing to increased adoption and revenue growth.

EBOOST upgraded its digital infrastructure to support growth across both electric two-wheelers and electric four-wheelers. The company launched an independent digital platform for e4W users, released the E-Car mobile app on iOS and Android, improved database capacity, strengthened data security and ensured compliance with Open Charge Point Protocol standards to improve interoperability and reliability. EBOOST is now working toward a unified “mega app” that will serve both eBike and eCar users while enabling location partners to track charging events, commissions and operational performance.

The partnership increased visibility and strengthened collaboration through participation in major industry and policy events, including AutoTech, Tech in Asia, GRECO, the Green Economy Forum and Exhibition, Vietnam Motor Show, Green Vietnam and the Ministry of Science and Technology’s “Investment Policy for Startups” discussion. EBOOST also co-organized the Green Energy Transition Showcase in 2024 and 2025, each attracting around 200 participants, and co-hosted the Empowering Sustainability UniTour with Stride and Alternō, reaching more than 600 students.

With support from ASSIST and the P4G Vietnam National Platform, EBOOST contributed to policy discussions on startup investment, climate finance, EV charging regulation and green mobility. Engagements with government agencies and sector stakeholders helped clarify compliance needs and positioned EBOOST as an active contributor to Vietnam’s enabling environment for electric mobility.

The partnership produced two knowledge products during the funding period:

  1. Practical Guidelines for Installing and Operating EV Charging Stations in Residential and Office Buildings in Vietnam
  2. The expansion of charging station is shaping the EV’s landscape in Vietnam

Lessons Learned

  • Customer adoption increases when infrastructure expansion is paired with targeted promotions, user education and responsive customer support.

  • Data-driven insights are essential for improving app functionality, identifying usage trends and designing effective marketing campaigns.

  • Strong partnerships with location owners, EV manufacturers, mobility providers and public agencies are critical for scaling charging infrastructure.

  • Policy engagement requires sustained effort, but early participation helps startups anticipate regulatory changes and influence practical solutions.

  • University and community outreach can build long-term demand by familiarizing future users and professionals with green mobility solutions.

The partnership comprised the following partners: EBOOST (lead business partner); ASSIST (lead administrative partner).
