By February 2022, CFP onboarded 22 brand and buying agents, 45 factories and 18 recyclers to mobilize textile waste recycling and collect 1569 tons of fashion waste, 42% of which traced back to participating recyclers. The partnership setup the infrastructure for traceable post-industrial textile waste recycling in Bangladesh.  

CFP hosted the Policy Gaps and Opportunities for Circular Fashion in Bangladesh event in June 2021, which discussed the progress of the CFP partnership, and the opportunities and identified barriers to accelerating the transition to a circular fashion business model. Additionally, CFP co-hosted an instrumental policy roundtable discussion together with the Danish Embassy in Bangladesh and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the opportunities and barriers for scaling circularity in Bangladesh. 

The partnership published an analysis that highlights how Bangladesh can save 3/4 of a billion dollars on virgin cotton imports if it recycles 100% of its cotton waste domestically. When scaled, the partnership has targeted a 15% reduction in carbon, water footprint and waste-to-landfill, and a 20% increase in 100%-recycled material clothing products among participating brands. This will be a key factor in contributing to Bangladesh’s national priority of creating an inclusive circular fashion system that creates jobs and protects the environment.
