About

The Global Distributors Collective (GDC) helps the last mile distribution sector improve business performance by providing services that save time, reduce costs, build capacity and develop catalytic business partnerships.

Investing in Impact

P4G provided this partnership with US $100,000 in catalytic grant funding.

The partnership completed a first-of-its-kind report titled “Last Mile Distribution: State of the Sector” that highlights the role of last mile distributors (LMDs) – distributors who transport goods from a warehouse or distribution center to their final destination – in creating markets for products. The report contains new data and insights for stakeholders to engage with this sector including recommendations for investors to build experience to invest in LMDs, manufacturers to extend better terms and credit and software companies to  de-risk investments through data.

GDC held its first member event in the third quarter of 2018, which proved a successful opportunity for members and experts from other areas to share learnings, network and inspire change throughout the community. As a result of GDC’s first member event in 2018, 98% of attendees reported that they would make business changes as a result of the learnings shared. GDC members include organizations that sell life-changing products to last mile customers – individuals who’re underserved by the mainstream private sector because they are low income and/or live in remote areas.

The GDC currently represents over 150 such last mile distributors around the world – from Mexico to Kenya to Papua New Guinea.
