The official document handover reaffirms the Ministry's support towards partnering with P4G in advancing Indonesia’s climate innovation and sustainable growth for the next five years.
JAKARTA (October 22, 2025) — Today, Partnering for Green Growth and the Global Goals 2030 (P4G) officially handed over the P4G Indonesia Growth Vision 2027 - 2032 Document to the Ministry of National Development Planning (Bappenas), marking a key milestone in Indonesia’s journey toward a low-carbon, innovation-driven and sustainable economy.
The document outlines the strategic direction and collective vision for implementing the next phase in Indonesia and was developed through close collaboration between the members of P4G Indonesia National Platform: Bappenas, Indonesia Business Council for Sustainable Development (IBCSD), IBEKA, WRI Indonesia, and donor partners at the Embassy of Denmark, Embassy of the Netherlands and the Embassy of the Republic of Korea.
During the handover ceremony at Bappenas headquarters in Jakarta, P4G Executive Director Robyn McGuckin emphasized the central role of innovation ecosystems in advancing climate action.
“Innovation doesn’t happen in isolation, it thrives in ecosystems. When the public sector leads with vision, investment, partnership and innovation follows. This next phase of P4G will build on Indonesia’s success in aligning policy, investment and innovation to advance sustainable development,” said McGuckin.
Since Indonesia joined P4G in 2019, the initiative has provided around USD $13 million in funding to climate startup partnerships in the country, as well as additional technical assistances and regulatory support. This has strengthened the institutional frameworks that allow evidence-based innovation to thrive in startup ecosystems. This success is in large part because of a strong Indonesian National Platform which provides a multistakeholder public-private platform that helps connect climate startups with critical ecosystem players and improves the enabling market environment.
A Strategic Blueprint for Indonesia’s Climate Innovation Agenda
The P4G Indonesia Growth Vision Document for 2027 – 2032 serves as an overarching framework that will guide Indonesia’s priorities in climate innovation, green investment and sustainable growth for the next 5 years. The document includes an overview of the startup ecosystem in the country, the existing regulatory landscape, and proposes pathways to streamline their journey to scaling both nationally and globally. The vision draws from Indonesia’s learning on climate startup ecosystems and practical insights on barriers and needs shared by P4G’s startup partnerships.
The growth vision also outlines how Indonesia can leverage innovation to deliver on its low-carbon and bioeconomy ambitions, aligned with the Indonesian Mid Term Strategy (RPJMN 2025-2029) and Indonesia’s Long-Term Strategy (RPJPN 2025–2045), while also contributing to the achievement of SDGs and Paris Agreement simultaneously.
"Bappenas fully supports the climate-tech startups working with P4G. With a robust foundation for transformation and commitment from all stakeholders, Indonesia is poised to achieve its Net Zero Emissions target while ensuring equitable and sustainable development through the Trisula Pembangunan which focuses on poverty reduction, stimulating economic growth, and strengthen human and social capital,” concluded by Leonardo Teguh Sambodo, Deputy for Food, Natural Resources and Environment of Bappenas.
The Indonesian National Platform took the lead in drafting this vision with private, public and civil society members collaborating and adding their insights.
The P4G Indonesia Growth Vision 2027 - 2032 identifies six key strategic directions:
This document aims to inform the next phase of P4G’s fundraising and implementation and will continue to evolve based on national priorities and the vision and learnings of the National Platform as it works with climate startups in the coming years.
