Julia is Co-founder and Chief Strategy Officer of Meridiam, a benefit corporation based in Paris, managing 8 global long term infrastructure funds making investments in energy, mobility and social infrastructure. Meridiam, funded by pension funds and insurance companies, is a developer, investor and asset manager and has created in the region of $70bn of new greenfield infrastructure.
She has an extensive history and background in infrastructure investment, having acted as an investor, adviser both to Governments and to the private sector and provider of debt and junior funding in respect of a large number of major infrastructure projects around the globe over decades. She is a major proponent of responsible and community-based sustainable investment. She is a Commissioner sitting on the National Infrastructure Commission in the UK and has recently been appointed Commissioner on the International Development Infrastructure Commission in the UK. She is Director of the Fulcrum Infrastructure Group and Chair of Neuconnect Limited, a company developing a major energy interconnector between the UK and Germany. She recently has been made a non-executive Director of the Port of Tyne in the UK and also sits on the Advisory Panel of Glennmont Renewable Energy Fund. She is an Honorary Professor at the Bartlett School, University College London and Co-founder of the group Women Leaders in Infrastructure. Her previous roles have included non-executive positions on the Emerging Africa Infrastructure Fund, Infraco Africa and Infraco Asia Investments, and leading infrastructure roles at Bank of Scotland, Charterhouse, and Hill Samuel Bank.
